| Re: Licking paw non stop My rottie licked her paw and would hold her paw up too when she put too much pressure on it or jumped off the couch. I'm glad you are taking her to the vets, but please make sure they do an xray on her toes to be sure she doesn't have some sort of infection or even worse. One of the vets in my vets office said that my girl Nikki just had a "sprain". Well come to find out it wasn't a sprain, it was cancer of the toe/nail bed. Even with the xrays, one vet thought it looked fine, then the other looked closely and saw that it wasn't fine at all. Thank God for him since we had Niks toe removed and it was sent away for pathology and returned with it being squamous cell carcinoma.
I don't want to scare you by any means, it could be something as simple as an allergy as other people mentioned. I had no idea that there was such a thing as nail bed or digit cancer until she was diagnosed about 2 weeks ago. So just be aware and keep your eyes on her to make sure it doesn't get any worse.
