| Re: New Owner Needing Some Advice... If her mother gets to know zuki from a puppy and is somewhat involved with seeing her frequently she will see that she is not some vicious cujo, and she won't be able to not fall in love with her. Your daughter is old enough to get involved with training and I'm sure she knows how to treat dogs in general. My children were teenagers when we got our rottie, but then they married and had children, and she was fine with the grandkids. We would never leave them alone with any dog. But we had no problems. They used her as a pillow to watch tv laying on the floor. They knew she had to do something for a treat. It was very funny to watch a 2 yr old telling a 100 lb rottie to sit, lay down, speak, for her treat. And she took her treats very gently from the kids. All her mother has to do is get to know a rottie or two and I'm sure she will be hooked. Take her to some shows where there are many well behaved rotties all in the same place and speak with the owners. Don't give up, they are the most wonderful companions. |
