This proposed ordinance by the Kenmare City Council is absurd. Any dog has the potential to bite an individual. They should just ban all dogs if they don't want to risk a resident being bitten. I have been bit in the ankle by an unprovoked Chihuahua, and my son was bit in the tush by an unprovoked Shetland Sheepdog. I would think that makes those dogs the vicious ones.

Back in 2004 I was doing some political campaigning and drove up to a house that had a big Rottie sitting by the side door with no one around. He had such a calm demeanor about him, but I was unsure whether or not to exit my car. After all he was a strange dog. I decided to back out. He continued to stay by the side door. So I backed up to where the steps went to the front porch, got out of my car, nonchalantly walked up to the front door and left the brochures. When I turned around there he was standing there just looking at me. I don't think he would have hurt a flea. I just walked past him to my car and I was on my way.

I have been around a lot more vicious little dogs than any of the breeds that are targeted for breed specific legislation.
