I think the disease that comes from stagnant water that you are thinking of is leptospirosis.
Was she vaccinated for this? There was a discussion on this vaccine recently.
I know my vet did not vaccinate Dodge after asking me if he has access to stagnant/skunky water. He doesn't.
I would think that running streams, creeks and rivers would not classify.
But I guess it is something to ask about and what the symptoms are.
I am glad she is acting herself, and zooming around. I would be nervous about leaving her too, but you are doing the best thing you can by removing the collar, and crating her.
I hope an answer comes up soon as well as a cure.
