A number of my friends want very laid back and look horrified w respect to Dasko because he throws strong personalities. This came up when I mentioned looking at a Dasko daughter. Has anyone backed off from working lines because of these issues when picking a stud dog. Do most of your friends want easy and placeable?
This is a very interesting post and opens up a whole new can of worms. We are inundated with BSL and discrimination against our breed, so what is one to do? In order to breed that famous dog many breeders will breed litter after litter to get that one nearly perfect special and where do all the not so perfect puppies go? Many of our true working dogs are a little "hot" for an inexperienced owner and allowing inexperienced people to buy puppies that are likely to be a handful does NOT help the breed unless the breeder is willing to take on the responsibility of teaching the new owners how to bring up the puppy. I'm sure it is easier to breed softer temperaments for easier sale of puppies, but this is wrong as you are not breeding for the whole Rottweiler, you are changing temperament in order to make sales.

Yes, Dasko has a reputation of being tough, but so what, that doesn't mean he is nuts or has bad temperament. If he provides what you need you should breed to him or change your breed of choice to something softer. I truly believe that every dog bred should be able to work, some people are so caught up in the beauty pagent that is the AKC confirmation ring that the ability to work is ignored and if we ignore it long enough it will be gone.
