 bringing a new puppy into the family
I have a question: what would be the best way to bring a new rottie baby into the family. i have a 1yr old cockapoo (nutered male) and a 5month old APBT (altered female) Also a 3yr old cat (that IS the ALPHA over both 4 legged and 2 legged family members) both dogs have been in obedience class and soiciallized they get along great (some rough play but no fighting) do any of you think i will have a problem bring another female into the mix. (she will be altered as soon as possible also) also what would be a good way of doing this? i hade thought of getting the new puppy smell on a blanket (like you would do a baby) before i bring her home (in june she will be 8 weeks) and let the others get use to her smell. dont know if that works with dogs but want the transition as smooth as possible. thanks in advance for all your advice. |
