Cancer of the spleen. It spread to his liver, I believe, but when Jerry told me about it, he was still very understandably upset and having a hard time talking about it.
Singleton litters happen to the best of us!
Singleton might be because the bitch absorbed pups... Pooh did that with her only pregnancy. Her thyroid dropped mid term. Other hormonal fluctuations can cause this as well as stress, or a myriad of other reasons... Did your friend have a necropsy done on the pup? That's the only way your friend will know the cause of death.
