I'm not trying to be avoid your question here, but please explain a bit more. When you say she's laying down, is she asleep, changing positions, what? Is she panting?

Whining could be a sign that she's in pain. Whining could also be her way of just wanting to get some attention and ready for play. Does she have any problems eating, peeing, moving when she gets up? My male "whines" when he's ready to rock and roll and be playful. It's his way of "talking" to me to say "let's get it on and let the fun begin".
