| Re: Is there any hope for me? Sadgirl I am so happy to have read that you went ahead and adopted Moose. I was not on for awhile and didn't get to see this thread right away. I have adopted, fostered and trained many Rotties over the past 28 years. What you are describing here is a great dog in the making. Getting Moose into some general obedience classes so he can build confidence and you can as well will make huge strides toward him being that perfect family pet you are hoping for. I do have to say of the many Rotties I have dealt with all of mine have growled at some time or another. Usually during play. You will learn his growl as well and know if it is a warning or a hello. I suspect the food bowl is a "leave me alone while I eat" his growling as you approached him on his bed may have just been a "I am not sure what you want from me now" again you will learn what to expect of each other and become more and more confident in your relationship. Don't be surprised if you fall completely in love with this breed. They tend to sneak into your heart. I hope you will continue on with updates on Mooses progress. Good Luck to you both. |
