Post Re: Trying to find cool collar for my rottie

When looking for an item...google is your best friend. Just do a google seach for 'spiked dog collars'...and I'm sure you can find hundreds of websites that sell them.

I'm with the other's, when I see some dog wearing a spiked collar it means to me that that dog is bad...and it must be used for fighting. Why would anyone think anything else about the dog?? Sadly it's young men that often think their dogs need to be wearing these items. It must make them feel more macho?

I know my son (young adult male) said we should get a spiked collar for Baxter...and I said over my dead body...and explained to him what this collar was meant for. He did not realize it was to protect fighting dogs necks...he thought it was cool.

I'm sure our opinions don't matter when someone is determined to do what they want...I have other pet peeves about collars too. Can't stand big choke chains used as everyday collars on our dogs, or pinch collars left on dogs and used as everyday collars either. I see this all of the time.

I had a collection of spiked collars that I threw in the garbage...many foster Rotts pulled from the shelter were wearing them...and they were usually called some horrible name such as "Scum", "Killer", "Maggot",etc. The public thinks of this breed as bad ass....and then when named some tough name, and add a spiked collar....it's very hard to change this perception.
