I know your post is kind of old now but I had to post something. I really appreciate the fact that you admitted to your initial faults trying to train your pup. Everyone makes mistakes but it takes a conscientious person to realize it and seek to change and learn, which is what you did! There is a post on this website under the Articles section which describes the nothing in life is free training which may offer some insight for you. Also, I know folks may not agree, but I have learned a lot about dog behavior from watching the Dog Whisperer. His show gives me insight into dog psychology (the term Cesar uses) and it has helped me understand dogs better. I have used some of his methods with my rott and have had great results. Just a thought. I'm sure your pup will turn out fine now that you have the right tools. Good luck and keep reading this site there's a lot of good info here!
