i think that whenever they are whining in the morning after sleeping all night, that it is a different sounding whine than the "i'm lonely or i just want to be out of the kennel" whine. at that point, i think they will associate the response to the whining much more with the act of going potty than the actual whining, if you know what i mean. Them sitting by the door and whining to let you know when they need to go out is what you are shooting for anyway once this whole potty training is done.
