hit the side of our bed with her front leg! She sat and howled and whined for a good 2 minutes and then was trying to walk on it. She can walk on it and put pressure on it but is very vocal about it and whines loudly. This happened last night at about 10pm. She went up and down the stairs twice and whined when she did that. I had a friend come over that has dogs and runs a rescue so her knowledge is good and she felt her leg and squeezed her paw, shoulders and chest with no whining....hmm. She suggested that she maybe she pulled a muscle and that we should watch her and see if it progressed...she didn't want me spending a huge amount of money at the emergency vet. Today she is walking a little bit, just to go outside, but won't eat and has laid down all morning in the same spot! I don't know what to do! My vet is open in the morning at 8am but I don't want to hurt her more by not addressing it now!!! Any suggestions????

I would also completely restrict her to crate rest and outside to potty only. I would also block the stairs so she isn't walking up or down them in the interim and get her to the vet first thing tomorrow. It could be a pulled muscle or it could be a fracture or ???. Since you don't know it is best to avoid strain on the leg by limiting movement especially something as tricky as walking up and down stairs.
