If your dog is eating/drinking fast enough to make him burp and puke, I would definitely NOT RAISE THE FOOD/WATER. These two things together is a recipe for BLOAT, which is much more serious than cleaning up a little off the floor.
My girl is a fast eater/drinker and I find that if I make her come and sit for a nice barrel rub she will burp in a much more controlled way.
