Small for a 2 1/2 month old?

My puppy is 2 1/2 months old and weighs about 12 lbs. All of the growth charts I found said that at 3 months he should weigh around 30+ lbs. Is it normal for him to be so small? I know growth is unpredictable but he seems to be way off the norm if he needs to double in size within 2 weeks to be on track. However, he has been sleeping alot lately so I'm hoping a growth spurt might be on the way?

We feed him Eukanuba large breed puppy food, which was recommended by the vet, and he eats between 2 and 3 cups a day over 3 eating sessions. He was checked for worms and he has had all the immunizations he is supposed to have at this point, and the vet said he is healthy. I checked all over the web and I couldn't really find anything close enough to put me at ease.

Please let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

P.S. - If anyone has had a puppy that grew on this same schedule, could you tell me how your puppy's growth continued through puppyhood?

Thanks!
