| Re: Worried that she might have eaten my sock Glad she is feeling well, just keep an eye on her. The golden retriever next to my grandpa started acting weird one day and when she took him to the vet, he puked up a man's tube sock.
In the magazine I get from my vet, there was a story titled ",Missing any socks? It might not be your dryer that's eating them."
It told a story of a mastiff whose owner had let him have a bucket full of tennis balls in the summer. One day in the winter when he wasn't feeling well they took him to the vet and xray revealed this dog had swallowed 5 balls. It took months for one to make it's way into the intestines and cause a problem. During surgery they extracted not only the balls but several pieces of rawhide and pieces of towels.
Here are the warning signs they printed.
Diarrhea, Drooling,Lethargy, Persistant vomiting or dry heaves, refusing to eat and restlessness. Here is the list of the most common objects that are swallowed by pets and require surgery to remove, balls, bones, chew toys, corn cobs, hair ties/ribbons, panty hose,
rocks,socks, sticks and underwear.
He also says to check toys frequently, watch for missing squeakies, stuffing and deterioration from age or rough play. He also says the clothes hamper is a favorite of pets.
Hopefully you find your sock soon.
