I would suggest your search to include contacting and talking to quality COE breeders in WA state. A number of them do not frequent the BC shows. Thus you can get a broader impression of the differing dogs and lines available in the Pacific Northwest. There are usually larger attendances at the AKC and German style shows in the US.
Take your time - research every breeder. Then go to a big show and compare different dogs. You will find this is most educational.
