There was a specific concern dure to the rescue's prior behavior. That's a whole 'nother bag o' kumquats!
Urike, he'll get used to it and stop "jumping ship." Cute metaphor, that! As long as the pup is safe, ignore the ship jumping, and use cheerful, pleasant tones when you speak. This will assure him that all is well. There is nothing to fear.
If it goes on too long... laugh about it! Seriously. I had a rescue once, who was afraid of the phone ring. Once we all had a good laugh, and stroked the silly girl, she never jumped again.
