I live and grew up in Orange County and while I never have rented with a dog, I know there is a network you can contact to research appropriate complexes. I'm sure you can find a place that will allow your rottie, though it is going to be a bit harder. A lot of places have weight restrictions, if not breed restrictions. You may have better luck in Dana Point and Laguna (though not sure if you are looking at Laguna Beach, Niguel, Hills or Woods--4 different cities). Irvine has a lot of rental communities, probably more so than the other cities, because of the University and just the way the city has been master planned. While incredibly safe (I used to live there, it's a nice city) I always assumed the apartments and townhouses had weight or breed restrictions. But I could be wrong and you may find something nice there. Check out this website (
