We all understand this. We all have lives. We all have chores. We all have to keep our houses up and running. Heck, I don't leave my two dogs outside alone ever.
Both these statements apply to me. I never leave my dogs outside by themselves. I don't feel like a responsible owner having them outside alone. There is a cat that frequents our yard which I feel our youngest could easily catch. I would hate to walk outside to see that scenario played out because I wasn't outside watching. We have also found dead birds in our yard (probably from said cat) but possibly due to West Nile. If I am not outside actively supervising my dogs I wouldn't know if they found and ingested remanents of a dead diseased bird. Someone else recently posted about their dog being sprayed by a skunk. I'm sure the time to clean up the dog was more significant than going outside with the dog. Of course it is up to you to decide whether or not you are going outside with your dog; I just stated I always do and believe it is part of the responsibility of owning a dog. This is my opinion.
