Raw marrow bones found in a supermarket are usually labeled "soup bones". I only buy those if they are at LEAST 3" long to prevent any risk of choking. You can also buy them at a butcher shop (some shops don't charge at all for them), and there you would ask for "center cut femurs".
Some markets do store them in the freezer section - our Whole Foods Market here does. |
