We have a pretty extensive private beach well away from cars and such, very safe. It's easy to see other people/dogs coming from a long way away, so I put her leash on right away. Even though it's "dog time" there's alway opportunity for training. I always praise and treat for a good recall and also when she stops everything and check to see what I'm doing.
