My MIL is in a nursing home with dementia. We were caregivers for her for almost two years before we just couldn't keep her safe anymore at home. The nursing home is less than two miles from our house and we are very active there. I'll tell you what, helping with the elderly is both the most difficult and most rewarding things I have ever done in my life. Be prepared. You will never know what's going to happen. I'm looking into therapy programs for Zooey right now. She's just so great with MIL and the nursing home and she's only 15 weeks old!
