Your pup is still quite young. His marking when tied up is his way of communicating to you his unhappiness. I realize that we all try to raise our dogs to be flexible in any situation but, again at his age he still has so much to learn.

Is your dogs behavior acceptable no, but I would be more apt to crate him during your mealtimes. I feel that by tying him up and then getting upset(not in any way implying you are taking it out on your dog) you are in a sense setting him up to fail.

Crate your boy with his own meal or a nice treat. He will be happy, will not act out with undesirable behavior and you will not have to worry about your grandpa sneaking him food. This will keep everyone(you, pup and grandpa) happy for the short time your grandpa is visiting.

And I really wouldn't worry to much about future behavior. I'm sure as your pup gets older and has a little more training under his belt he will not behave in this manner.
