I am so, so sorry for your loss. You have definitely come to the right place for support. This forum and a pet loss book has helped me more than anything. We had our boy, Bear, put to sleep 3 weeks ago today. There has not been a day that has gone by that I haven't lost it, but it is and will get better. We look at his pictures and can now laugh and cry at the same time because he could be so silly. I am going to make a scrapbook soon.

Picking up the ashes was difficult for me too. When I walked in and they asked if they could help me, I just broke down and told them what I was there for. It was comforting to know that at least I did have him home again. Some people just don't understand how important your pet can be to you. They are family members and the grief can be just as strong as losing a human family member.
