We are speaking of hitting a puppy....would you hit a baby? Its the same thing. Dogs and children are not born knwing what we want, they are taught it, its not bashed into them, its taught! Patience and patience and more patience along with training and a firm voice is what you need. I have a 5 month old puppy (3 days off), have i hit her, NO. Have i taught her, YES. Did it take a while, yes. She now knows what is tolerated and what is not.
You are correct on one point though, this IS a ridiculous conversation, speaking about hitting puppies is just imbecilic and foolish. Respect and trust are earned you wont get that by beating a puppy. Remember puppies grow into dogs, BIG DOGS and they may not like it anymore.
