Fostermom said: I don't know of anyone who has two males that fight

We brought in a foster 4-5 yr old male about 5 months after we had rescued our 15 mo old Great Dane male. The Dane was neutered and the rottie was neutered soon after he arrived at our home. These two boys hated each other and had to be kept separated because they would fight. I'm certain that most of the problem was that they both were uncertain of each other as well as having a high stress level with adjusting to a new home. But it was ugly.
On the other hand, at the time we brought in the Dane, we had a 4 year old neutered male rottie that died suddenly a month later (aggressive lymphoma). There were no issues between Merlin, the rottie, and Angus, the Dane.
I've always found that our males were more steady in general than our females. The females seem to hold grudges against each other, are quick to argue over toys, beds, people they want to "claim", anything. Our guys have tended to just hang out and radiate calm confidence most of the time.
Names...Moose, Angus, Walter (the foster's new owners nameded him this), Prince Charming (we called the foster this), Hansel, Merlin, Gandalf..............I like fantasy/fairy tale names a lot...
