I think a lot of these old lines were good because people actually worked them, titled them, and proved it. It's all well and good to know a lot about the old lines and who was good then, but it takes a lot more commitment to actually work and title what you buy (or breed), and prove any offspring. I see a HUGE lack of that nowadays.
