Complete Rottweilers ?

Hi ,

I raise this question (rather then a statement) Not out of Prejudice or disdain for the Show rottweilers that are currently campaigning but out of curiosity (wether others who are students of the breed share similar opinion or can provide good explainations) and for want of answers . I have been looking at some of the top comformation rottweilers that are currently competing in Europe and well comparing them to my visualization of the standard i find that they are lacking in some areas . I see some rottweilers being very highly placed (wont name them :-) ) who have very Little rear angles and other dogs with Pink Lips , Loose flews and light eyes getting some very good placements . Should one outstanding feature be allowed to Influence the Judge's opinion so much that the rest of the stuff is overlooked ? Can a dog with Huge typey head , excellent front but totally lacking rear ( angulation) be placed high enough over dogs that are perhaps not as good in certain aspects but more balanced in outlook and harmonius ?

Is breeding for such dogs Concious breeding ? Can a breeder be really called outstanding if his breeding is showing same faults over and over again (be-it he/she is also producing the same strong points) ???

Also another question about Judging rules and regulations . I am a convert into the rottweiler breed :-) , German shepards were my first Love as a young Kid and i have grown up with them , followed the breed and their sieger shows . Though I beleive we can do well in staying away from a lot of the things going around in that breed but I do believe that we can learn one thing from them - Ie. The dogs should be placed with due consideration being placed on Progeny . Progeny should determine wether a dog is going to represent the breed or not . It is undisputable that ratings at the Klub show influence the cource or direction that the breed is taking , so why not use progeny as another benchmark ?

Why cant we have VA status dogs at the show where to earn VA rating you have to pull off a working routine aswell as show a reasonably strong progeny class (or else promise beyond belief) ??

I would love to know what other members feel about some of these questions , the entire train of thought was to come up with a constructive conversation .. after all we all want the breed to become healthier , stronger and more better .
