My Smokie was growing too fast. I have cut his food. My question is

If a pup is too big for his age is it better to feed him little until he is closer to the recommended weight for his age, is there any danger of malnutrition?

Or should i feed him a normal amount of food? Which would mean him remaining a few kgs heavier than he should be until he stops growing?
