I did this with my pup. I took her to her spot when I knew she was ready to go and gave her her most favorite treat ever ONLY when she went there. I did this from the day I brought her home.
It took her until she was about 6 months old, but now, she won't pee anywhere but there. Even if we're out hiking in the woods, she will hold it all day so she can pee in her potty spot. So I would say it almost worked TOO WELL because sometimes we have to cut our hike short because I know she has to go and I don't want her to get a UTI from holding it too long.
I still her treat her periodically for this and she's 10 months old. But now it's sporadic and with a lower value treat. |
