Re: Humping???

In my house, there is a zero tolerance for the humping of anything. No toys, beds, other dogs, and DEFINATELY not any part of a human.

Gary did try humping when he was around 10 weeks old also and it was pretty harshly corrected. And yes it is a way for a dog to assert himeslf over the thing he is humping. Females do it also, and even neutered males. Usually it is not a sexual behavior, just a way for a dog to assert hisself.

With a few corrections at the beginning the behavior quickly went away. Now at 6 months it is showing up again, but only on other dogs. Again, there is a zero tolerance for it and when he is caught it is corrected.

There are other ways for a dog to assert himself that are not nearly as rude as humping.
