Dear Julie,
In time you will be ok with this decision. It was brave on your part and now your children will not be in any danger and your entire family can take a deep breath. The tension in your house was not fair to the family. You did what you could to change your dog's behavior and through no fault of your own, the dog just could not respond. If the dog really would have connected with one of the children and given a more powerful bite that did damage, you would never ever have been able to forgive your self. You did the right thing. You are a strong woman and an excellent mother!!
