I'm sorry you had to go through this, and sorry for your loss. You did the right thing for her as well as your family, because a dog is no happier living in a world with perceptions of danger than any human being is.
Here's an article by a very gifted vet on this topic.....she believes emotional pain (and dogs can suffer from it as yours did) is every bit as painful as physical pain and to deny euthanasia would be a disservice to the dog.
