almost 10 yo Fem Rottie, probably cancer

Hi all,

I haven't posted her much but read all the time. Marley will be 10 in August and yesterday we had her at the vet because she has developed a lump on neck she is/was having much pain in walking. What is going on is this tumor in pushing on the nerves on her left side. The vet gave her a shot to reduce the swelling which seemed to work for now and a prescription for codeine. He took fluid sample and has sent them off to a pathologist and we will have the result back on Friday. We he looked at the cells in the samples he said it didn't look good.

Maybe I'm jumping the gun a bit as the results aren't back yet but I have the feeling there not going to be good. My wife and I talked last night and we decided that we don't want to put her through treatment that will probably not do much good. I know it going to come to having her put to sleep but I have never had to make this type of decision before and I don't know what to do or when to do it. We rescued her 9 years ago from her abusive owners and she has had 9 very good and happy years with us and I am having a hard time with all this she has never really be sick before. Any thoughts would be great.
