Actually, breeder's cannot force a buyer to use their kennel name. My friend got her pup from a breeder not far from my own breeder. The pup was to be shipped, somehow, as the buyer was in a severe accident prior to picking up the pup.
The buyer made arrangement thru personal friends of hers to pick up the pup, with one exchange to a second set of friends. The breeder went against the plan, stating being handed over to 2 sets of people would be far too stressful to the pup.
The breeder, took it upon herself to send the dog with another of her own buyers who lived about 3 hours away. Closer, yes. She claimed she had the right to protect her pup.
When everything was said and done, and my freind with brand new back surgery had to drive the 3 hours, herself...she was understandably upset. She feared there would be no pup to pick up.
The breeder had dutifully filled in her kennel name on the reg. papers, and had signed her permission for the kennel name. Litter reg. numbers, etc. all filled in. Only the actual naming of the dog was left to the buyer.
The buyer was so angry, and stressed over this woman having done this to her, she called AKC. AKC said she, the buyer, is under NO OBLIGATION to use the kennel name. She was told to white it out and name the dog whatever she wanted. She used "Mack's _____ _____ _____ ____." Mack was her husband's nick name. This was to be his dog.
Back to the OP: I'm so glad everything worked out!
