honestly it matters not if the kennel names are registered or not (almost none are because AKC has a weird criteria) YOU CAN change the dog's names as long as they have not done any show winning or produced a litter. If you do a search here you may even find my post on the subject with the exact wording.
maybe Sharon will see this and post as well, she just changed her dog's name slightly
