AKC does in fact allow- for a fee- a one time change in name. It's not something I usually approve of because a kennel usually has naming themes and wants them to stay as they were decided when bought.
HOWEVER in your case it seems the breeders let you name the dogs whatever, so perhaps it would be ok.
Someone on the board here recently changed their dog's name-with breeder consent
