I used to line up the snack tables across the couch. Not attactive but it worked. My friend did the same with her border collie. Rommel would only get up when he was home alone. I ended up putting our old couch on the front porch. Rommel loved having his own couch facing the big bay windows. He was able to keep his eye on things including the front door. At night he would wait for me to go to bed and would follow me to sleep next to my bed.
