My boy is 8 months now and he has the same excitability about new dogs. Though it's never an aggressive burst of energy I continually work on re directing his focus to me when this happens etc. My point is, I would rather be in group classes to work more on this desensitizing by flooding the stimulus. In my research for a trainer who understands this and my other interests such as a more intensive program (we did PetSmart too) I found WestCoastK9 run by Graham Bloem, and I've signed up for Intermediatte group class this April. Obviuosly I was impressed with him and he as well does private training. If your looking for a rottweiler specific trainer I found several on the Rosewood Rottweilers website.
