Every breed is different. for a small dog 10yrs old might be the dog's prime but for rotties that is "elderly". I would not breed a female Rott past the age of 7 and only if she is a YOUNG 7. I don't know about a male. I have heard that as they get older they tend to pass on more faults/ health problems to their puppies (this could be a complete myth but makes sense that their genes are not as good) I would have the male collected in his prime so it can be used at a later date if desired. |
