Wink Re: Our First Show - Any Tips??

here in the US the judge looks at the dog in the stacked position then you show the bite and then the judge "goes over the dog. then the judge tells you where to move the dog. eg.. down and back, triangle etc.. make sure you show up early to get her acclimated and watch the pattern that the judge uses for the dogs ahead of you. that way you can anticipate what you will do. I am going to my first German style show in April and I am nervous because I have no idea what to expect! I feel like a novice all over again. I am lucky that my dog's breeder is helping me prepare the dogs. they do all free stacking and double handling is allowed. When I make my liver i put it in a casaroll (sp?) dish and add water to cover the liver. I then add a good amount of garlic powder or 1/2 clove of crushed carlic. I microwave it for 10min. It makes the liver tough. other bait suggestions are hotdogs if you have them in AUS or chicken. even you dinner leftovers can work. just practice to see what she likes the best
