| Re: Our First Show - Any Tips?? Don't worry so much about a perfect stack at 18wks old. she is just a baby and the judge is expecting that. let her have fun. I usually hold the bait or toy in front of their mouths and walk them into a stack. hold gentle counter pressure with the lead in the other hand. keep holding the lead back and move the bait slightly and you will see her change her feet positions. most of all HAVE FUN:) If you are set on hand stacking then just be persistant as long as she isn't feeling stressed. stack her front first. I look at the foot that is correct and then match the other one to that one. then I stack the rear foot closest to the judge first then the other. by then they usually move the rear foot that you just stacked and you have to do it again. I keep fixing them until the judge is ready to examine. then I go back to controlling the head and showing teeth etc... As he/she is going down the body you can quickly try to fix the feet again but like I said she is a baby and HAVE FUN! Remember you pay your entry to show the entire time you are in a ring. Take your time and try to be relaxed (this never happens) LOL. Good luck. hope this helps alittle. also try getting into some handling classes. it gives you and the dog practice. also try stacking her and having your friends go over her.
