If you can't grab one of them up then rescue do NOT go pet store or BYB to get a pup. You will get the same quality and a rescue center for the same if not less money. You help rescue and help put BYB's out of work!
Its really that simple! And I didnt read the whole thread so may have missed your reply as a reply to someone else or so forth. It was just me making note to the common post that people dont want to go through Good breeders due to price. Seriously many home fault dogs at cheaper prices then most BYB's even free sometime if they trust the home! |
Not if you want "instant" puppy. Then you go and buy the first puppy that of course is close to you.. throw the money down and you have a pup.

Rescues make you do nasty things like fill in applications, and do screenings and home checks.

Then you still may have to wait for the right rescue dog to come along that suits your family....can you imagine having to wait??
Even shelters or petfinder dogs may not have dogs close to you....so of course you cannot wait or make a long drive....you need a dog instantly.
Good breeders make you wait also...and you must be patient and go on a waiting list....and they also charge WAY too much.

They also want you to fill in an application and talk to you ,and screen you, and may even want to call your vet and your obedience trainer to see what kind of dog owner you are. Can you imagine???
Many people want instant pets...instant gratification...they want one, and they want it now. That's why pet shops do so well...that cute puppy in the cage must be yours. Throw the Visa card on the cash desk...and you got a puppy. No questions asked...only if they can sucker you into buying a crate, leash, bowls, toys, food, etc.
Ads in the paper are a quick way to find an instant pet too...give them a call and of course they want you right over...to see the puppies. They often just take cash...but if they are desperate enough..a cheque will do also.
No one seems to want to wait to add such an important member to their family....that's why rescues and shelters are full.
