Re: Michigan BSL

Gypsysmom- I am so very sorry for the loss of your son. I can't begin to imagine how devastating it must be to lose a child.

That being said I can only imagine they treat it as such. A dog is a living breathing being. Capable of thought and it can act of its own free will. It must be trained and disciplined. If the owner fails in this he/or she is responsible.

A gun is an inatimate object not able to function unless someone actually engages the weapon. (the old saying guns don't kill people, people kill people)I don't know the particulars of your sons death, but from what you write I assume the owners of the gun had it somewhere and someone else got ahold of it and shot your son.

If the gun was stolen then in no way could the owners be held accountable. If they had it somewhere that it was easily accessable and someone else got ahold of it and killed your son then I would think they should at least be held accountable. If nothing else at least for negligence.

As I said I don't know the set of circumstances that caused this whole awful mess. Nor do I know the laws governing weapons in your state. It does sound like the whole situation is incredibly unfair and unjust to you. I can't imagine nothing being done. Nothing can bring back your son and I truely understand your quest for justice.

Ultimately in either case dog or gun it boils down to responsibilty. Whoever is the responsible party should be held accountable. I agree with you that someone should be held accountable in the death of your son. I am so sorry that this did not happen for you. Hopefully this is something that will continue to haunt them for the rest of their life. I know that is a small measure of solice, however I firmly believe what comes around goes around and whoever did this to your son will "get theirs" in the end.
