Chico D. in my experience which is not huge. Males like to test the waters of dominance. Rots are very smart. Dont let them see your weakness. Also stay firm with obedience. The barking is just his way of saying I am more dominant than you. If he gets on the couch after you have corrected him, just pull him off and he will learn. My dog used to get on the bed and growl at me. I whipped him off the bed after the first few times and now he just looks at me from the foot of the bed and barks. But he does not dare get on the bed. My other Rot used to cuddle with me on the pillow after my husband went to work, but he did not have dominance issues. This little, or very large guy I should say, does. Hope that helps!
