I would suggest you call animal control rather than demand $50 from your neighbor for the return of his dogs. To demand money while you are holding his dogs in your car might get you into more legal trouble than the neighbor. It sounds a bit like a ransom demand to me. |
My chickens are fenced-they do not go 'tease' his dogs, but chicken fence does not hold up well against two large breed dogs. If he cares to fence his yard, that is his option. His dogs safety is not my responsibility-it is his. $50 is the charge for dead chickens and damaged fence (and low at that). If his dogs are loose and on my property, then my restraining them in any form (garage, car, tied up, etc), and calling animal control is the least of my options. As I said-it is totally within my rights to destroy any dog harrassing or causing harm or death to my livestock. Though, as I stated, this would be my last option personally.
