Re: Bullet Meant For Dog Kills 'Owner'

That woman should not be allowed to own a firearm! :( She's a menace to all responsible firearm owners. But that's a whole other topic. <mad>

I own chickens. I own a dog. My neighbor owns dogs that would LOVE to get my chickens. (They have gotten two.) My chickens are in a coop and fenced-not free range (all over the property). We went round and round for quite awhile and I finally called animal control to give him a warning-KEEP YOUR DOGS ON YOUR PROPERTY AND UNDER CONTROL. (He has a 60+ lb lab female and a 100+ lb lab x boxer or bull?? male-neither had collars, kept kenneled outside-NO training and NO manners.) This has seemed to work so far. They have gotten loose twice in 6 months, but he now has collars on them and TRIES to keep them home. I have also told him if they are let loose to run and come over and kill chickens, that if I get ahold of them, they will be locked in my car til he pays me $50-or I will call animal control again and he can pay them to get them out of doggie jail! Shooting them would be my last resort-though well within my rights. My Grandpa regularly shoots coyotes and dogs-feral and otherwise (and sometimes it's hard to tell the difference :( ). He owns a farm (about 400 acres) and left unchecked these animals do much damage to livestock. BTW-his farm dog is a rottie. :)

What this woman did is completely unsafe firearm practice and totally EXTREME. I hope she's punished accordingly.
