To further answer your question... You need a dog who is registered, dogs without papers can't compete. Bring his paperwork, rabies certificate, a leash and you are good to go. In the German style shows you can not hand stack the dog ( place his feet ) so they allow you to " bait " them from outside the ring with a ball or toy to get them to stand at attention and look alert. The running part is kinda tough at times especially if you are a smoker LOL.
Skip gave a very good outline of what happens. The shows are a lot of fun and EVERY dog gets a critique which is kinda nice to have. They also allow you to use multipul handlers so that when one gets tired of running he or she can hand the dog off to someone else and they continue to run. Some of the older dogs run a LOT of laps at times but they go pretty easy on puppies.
The New England Rottweiler Fanciers NERF is having a show THIS weekend at the Blue Hills Reservation in Milton Mass. If you are close by and have nothing to do , come and check it out. There should be around 120 dogs there in the different classes. Puppies and youth ( up to 24 months ) show on Saturday and the adults show on Sunday. The weather is going to be great ( it was about 30 degres last year

)
If you go , stop by and say HI. My name is Andy and I'll have a female in 6 - 9 months and a male in 12 - 18 months
