Have you made it clear to Gypsy that she needs to behave around other dogs?
My youngest girl, Moxie, the dog I'm training and showing, regards small dogs as prey and she's intolerant of other bossy bitches. Her aggression to small dogs and other bitches is managed by me--it hasn't gone away and it likely won't until she dies. I take her to crowded dogs shows and I watch her. I make sure other dogs don't get in her face and the instant I see her doing something I don't like, she gets a leash pop and the AKKK sound.
I don't care what Mox thinks about small dogs and other bitches--she can think all the thoughts she wants about what she'd do if she could get them--BUT she's been trained by me to know that it'd be very very very bad for her if she acts on her thoughts.
Why don't you and Gypsy go to this trainer together and have this trainer show you how to control your dog? If Gyspy is like my Moxie, her aggression to other dogs won't be cured, it'll be managed.
I just don't get why an owner would want to send her dog away to be trained for something as simple as having good manners and exercising self control.  |
